Dog housebreaking training is not an easy task. Even if you have a well-trained dog, there are certain situations where he will not obey your command. This is mainly because your dog has not fully understood what you are saying. (Watch video below)

Dog housebreaking is the most important thing for a dog owner as well as their dog. If they don’t housebreak their dog, then there are chances of so many problems.

I don’t want to talk about the problems that you can face if you don’t housebreak your dog; but what I want to tell you is that it is not an impossible task if you take some steps correctly.

Housebreaking is the process of teaching your dog to use the toilet and to do the same thing when you take them out.

How to Dog Housebreaking Training?

Hence, the first step towards housebreaking your dog is to make him understand what you are saying. In this way, he will obey you without any hesitation.

Nowadays, there are so many people who own a dog but they do not know how to make their dog obedient. So, I am going to suggest a few tips that will make your life easier.

Never punish your dog when he does something wrong. If you scold him or hit him, then he will associate that with doing something wrong and he will not obey you in future also. Instead, show him a treat and tell him “Good boy!” If you give him a treat every time he obeys you, then he will think that “obeying me” means getting a reward.

Another important thing is that if you are training your dog for the first time, never use a harsh voice. Always speak in a kind tone of voice and give gentle commands like “Come”, “Leave it” and other such simple commands. This will create a positive association between your voice and obedience.

You can train your dog by making sure that your dog is properly housebroken and clean. So, you need to follow these steps to make sure that your dog is housebroken.

First step: Get a proper crate

A proper crate will help you to teach your dog to go inside the bathroom and to come out from the bathroom. Crate must be big enough for the dog to stand up and turn around. You can get it from the pet stores or any place where pets are sold.

Second step: Give them a proper time for toilet training

It is very important for you to give a proper amount of time to your dog so that they can learn to use the bathroom. If you don’t do this then they will not learn the concept of going to the bathroom. So, try to keep your dog in the bathroom for 10 minutes and then give them some water. After doing this, you can start taking them outside.

Third step: Be consistent

Once your dog learns the concept of using the bathroom, then you need to be consistent with it. So, make sure that you keep your dog in the bathroom for at least 5-10 minutes and then take them outside. You need to repeat this step every day until your dog learns to use the bathroom.

Fourth step: Clean the crate

If you have kept your dog in the crate for a long time then you need to clean it properly. You need to wipe the crate with a wet towel and then spray some water to remove any kind of smell.

Fifth step: Provide a reward

If you are training your dog for the first time, then it is very important for you to give them a reward after they complete their training. You can give them food or play with them.

Sixth step: Keep them busy

Your dog can be very active and can spend most of their time outside. But if you want them to learn to use the bathroom, then they will have to be active for some time. You can use toys or you can tie them up to make them active.
