“We started a dog treat business—it pays for my son’s service dog”

“We started a dog treat business—it pays for my son’s service dog”

26/12/2021 By Doggie

My husband and I have four children, including 17-tear-old Keygan. Keygan has suffered mental issues and has attempted suicide twice. He was signed with schizoaffective disorder, ADHD, psychosis, anxiety, and depression. To help Keygan, we got him a dog, an English Labrador named Alexis.

➡️ Dog With Heart Disease – Food Related?

Alexis was trained to be a psychiatric service dog, an expensive endeavor. To pay for the training, we started a dog treat business called Doggylicious Treats. It’s a family operation in which Keygan participates. So far we’ve sold five doggy cakes, asking for donations in return. The business is giving Keygan more confidence and independence.

Key Takeaways:

  • Keygan has been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, anxiety, psychosis, depression and ADHD.
  • Alexis, an English Labrador, is being trained as a psychiatric service dog for Keygan.
  • Training a service dog is expensive, so we use the money made from the Doggylicious Treats business.

“He had been hearing voices since he was 15, but he kept that a secret until earlier this year, when his mental health issues became overwhelming for him.”
