Every dog has different habits, so we don’t have any right or wrong when it comes to them. But if you see your dog licking your phone, your bag, your shoes, then it is definitely an instinct of a dog to clean their things.

It is not wrong for them to do so, but they will lick anything they want and sometimes it will start annoying us. Let me tell you that there are some things that can be cleaned by our hands only and others need some help from our dogs.

How to prevent my dog from licking everything?

There are certain things that we can do to stop our dog from licking everything. Some of them are as follows:

Teach your dog to stop licking things:

Teach your dog not to lick things that can be cleaned by our hands. So, when he sees a glass or a bowl he should remember that it is for drinking water and not licking things.

Remove the objects from your house:

When your dog sees an object that he likes to lick, then you can remove it from his sight by putting it in another room or you can put it in the basement. If you don’t know where to put it then you can keep it in a basket in the kitchen or on the table.

Give your dog special toys:

Giving toys to your dog will help him to play with it and get rid of the instinct of licking. You can also give him a toy that can be filled with water or other things that he may lick.

You can also buy a treat for your dog and give it to him as a reward when he stops licking.
