Dog is terrified of everything, what could i do? Some rescue dogs have gone through so much and not all people will understand that. Thankfully, this woman at a rescue center helped a dog realize that life is fun and he should live it!

Linda writes in the comments:

The most rewarding thing about rescuing a dog is watching them flourish with Love and trust 💕

In the first part of the video you see a dog is terrified of everything, the rescue dog didn’t even know anything about the concept of a leash. The woman taking care of the dog tried her best to be patient with the dog so he knows how leashes work. Also, the dog was traumatized with doorways and it was difficult for the dog to trust the woman whenever they had to go in and out from one.

Terrified Dog Regains Trust

It wasn’t an easy road to regain the trust of this dog. He would usually just stay on the floor and refused to move. Also, any kind of pressure the woman put on the dog would freak him out.

It’s a good thing that the woman taking care of the dog never gave up on him. She even took her to the playgroup they set up for the rescue dogs they have with them. The dog showed signs of trying to engage with the other dog playfully.

The dog has since been adopted after being fostered. The woman who adopted the dog had another doggo and the two became best friends immediately.

Terrified Dog Tips

Dogs are adorable creatures and they love their owners. But there are times when dogs are so scared and that makes us sad. They are scared of everything and that is why we need to keep an eye on them at all times.

You may ask what should we do if your dog is terrified of something? The best thing you can do is to try and understand the reason behind their fear and then try to make it easier for them.

Be patient

The first step to get your dog to accept you and trust you is to be patient and kind. If you try to be harsh then you will only increase the anxiety of your pet. Be calm, smile and talk softly to your dog.

Avoid scaring a terrified dog

If you want to get your dog to trust you, then it’s important to avoid frightening them. Don’t startle your dog or play with any objects that might cause fear in them. It is better to spend some time with your dog, not with other pets, so that your dog gets used to you.

Try a little bit of training

Sometimes, our dogs are just afraid of new things and it’s best to try and figure out what is causing their anxiety. If your dog is afraid of a certain object, try to train him to face it. This is very helpful as it helps your pet to get over their fears and learn to trust you.

Use treats

This may seem like the most obvious tip, but if you haven’t tried it yet then try giving your pet a treat when they do something good for you. This will help them to learn that they can trust you and earn some affection in return.

Do not punish

Dogs have a very sensitive nature and if you punish them for any reason, they will feel bad and scared. Try to understand the reason behind their fear and then try to work on it.

Be consistent

Dogs need to know that you are there for them and that they can trust you. So, make sure that you are consistent with all your actions and if you’re going to be away from your dog, then don’t forget to leave them with a toy or something else.

Conclusion:
If you’ve been trying everything possible to make your dog more relaxed and calm, then I hope that you will find the above tips helpful. We would love to hear your views and opinions about our blog and whether it has helped you in any way.
