What are common dog breathing problems? Do you ever noticed that a dog does not breathe properly? No, I don’t mean the breathing pattern is wrong or something like that, I mean that he/she is not breathing properly.

Breathing Problems in Dogs

Snoring

It is a common problem faced by most of the dog owners. This problem can be due to different reasons like sleep apnea, mouth issues or an allergy. Snoring is caused due to vibration of the air when it enters the throat.

Dry Mouth

It is the other common problem faced by most of the dog owners. Dry mouth can be due to the lack of water or dry food.

Coughing

If you notice your dog coughing then don’t worry about it. But if it continues for more than 15 minutes or if he/she has difficulty breathing then call the vet immediately. It may be due to certain health disorders.

Excessive barking

You should understand that dogs bark for different reasons, breath problems could be a reason. If they are barking out of stress then you can teach them not to bark in this situation.

Anxiety

This is one of the most common issues faced by the dogs. If your dog is anxious then you can keep them calm by playing with them, giving them a massage and making sure that they have enough food.

Cold weather

This is one of the most common issues faced by the dogs during winter. So, if you live in a cold area then make sure that you give your dog a warm coat so that he/she doesn’t catch cold.

Ear infections

Dogs have very sensitive ears and if they get an ear infection then it can be quite painful for them. So, if your dog starts to bark a lot because of pain then you need to take him/her to a vet immediately.

Coughing and sneezing

If you notice that your dog is coughing or sneezing a lot then you should take him/her to a vet immediately as this can lead to serious health issues, that can be related to a breath problem.
